Happy Thanksgiving!

Our pantries are stocked in preparation, there’s finally a chill in the air, and families everywhere are headed over the river and through the woods on their way home for a long holiday weekend…

Today is Thanksgiving Eve!

At The Yarn Patch we have so much to be grateful for, from the dedicated artists and craftpeople who make the world of yarn beautiful for our eyes and our hands, to the brilliant designers who share their gifts so that we can all enjoy more fun and rewarding projects. We have our wonderful Yarn Patch family; no one could ask for better people to work (and play!) with. And most of all we have to thank YOU- our friends far and wide, knitters and crocheters, whose enthusiasm, creativity, and humor help us thrive from year to year. You all make this community what it is- a shop to call home!

And speaking of humor…we thought you might appreciate these great project ideas for your holiday weekend! Whether you’re preparing for a long road trip on the busiest travel day of the year or just sitting at home waiting for that turkey to be done, maybe one of these festive crafts will keep you busy…

placemat

This “Happy Thanksgiving Placemat” by Rachel van Schie uses simple knits and purls in the tradition of a dishcloth to set the table- turkey and all!- with one project!

gourds

You don’t have to eat your vegetables if you knit them! The “Decorative Gourd Set” by Emily Kintigh will dress up your Thanksgiving table- no cooking required.

purse

Why not stuff this “Thanksgiving Turkey Purse” by Katrina Payne with all your necessities? This butterball is the perfect accessory for your holiday ensemble!

teacozy

Or put this “Thanksgiving Turkey Tea Cozy” by Angela Catirina to good use- he’ll keep your favorite seasonal beverage (tea? cider? cocoa?) piping hot!

And our last Thanksgiving Day project is truly a masterpiece…a crochet creation guaranteed to make memories at any Thanksgiving gathering…

THE SEXY TURKEY HAT by Angela Catirina!

Happy Thanksgiving to y’all as well. I think I’ll pass on the turkey purse and hat, though. I have some Roslyn waiting…
